The Taking of Stonecrop is a novella set 300 years prior to the events in the epic fantasy novel Spireseeker. Princess Byrn has been exiled from the castle at Riverbend Fortress, leaving her tyrant brother to rule all of Fayen. Faced with certain death if she reveals her own survival, she must choose between her own life and the well-being of the people she loves, when her brother brings her home to the brink of a bloody war.

Byrn soon finds that she is not alone. With help from her father’s spy network and a race of elves claiming special powers, she sets her sights on the one place where she can end the violence: her father’s throne.

Follow Byrn’s journey as she struggles to defeat her brother and reclaim peace and prosperity for all of Fayen.

About Spireseeker

Unconventional Fantasy with Modern Themes (Adult / Mature Young Adult)

As family and friends are taken from their midst and turned to a life of mindless devotion to their new Master, the creatures of Fayen begin to lose hope. But none of this suffering has reached the peaceful island where Beryl lives with her grandparents. Then when a calm fall afternoon is interrupted by a brutal attack on her family, Beryl is forced to flee the only home she’s ever known. As she travels, Beryl discovers who, and what, she really is and how the fate of the world may depend on her own.

This quirky fantasy offers a unique take on a classic epic journey. Centered on themes of empathy, loyalty, and personal burdens, Spireseeker, Bell’s debut, is best known for its genderless elves, magical creatures, and talking animals. It’s different!
